SD Youngwolf's work covers a range of diverse media, from oil painting to gourd art, mask making, and sandpainting, and he has won major awards in all of these. Likewise, his subject matter reflects a wide range of inspiration, from portrait, landscape, and figurative art to abstract surrealism, Native American traditional subjects and shamanically inspired works. SD's oil painting, “Ancestral Dreams”, took Best of Division in Painting, Drawing, Prints, and Photography at the 2009 Eiteljorg Indian Market.
